The hcwtvserver.exe is the process called Hauppauge WinTV Server that is used by the application Hauppauge WinTV TV Services developed by Hauppauge Computer Works. It is not a system process. It originates from the software installed in the system. It is not a core file for Windows that means the operating system can run without requiring htis process. The hcwtvserver.exe process can record inputs. It does not use a visible window. Hauppauge Computer Works or Hauppauge is a marketer and manufacturer of electronic video hardware that is used for personal computers. It is known for its TV tuner cards used for computers under the WinTV series. Hauppauge also manufactures personal video recorders, digital media players, digital television products for Mac and Windows, digital video editors and hybrid video recorders.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hcwtvserver.exe. is used by Hauppauge WinTV TV Services, If you shut down hcwtvserver.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hcwtvserver.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hauppauge WinTV TV Services, from your system.
