What is  googleupdater.exe

The googleupdater.exe process runs in the background when Google Updater is installed. Google Updater comes with Google Pack or Google Earth. So if the user downloads these Google softwares, Google Updater is installed automatically. The process googleupdater.exe may also be included with other Google applications in the computer. This process gives the user a less complicated interface to help them manage the Google applications. Google Updater offers a service to the user that monitors if there is an update available. Google has increased the number of its softwares, so many programs are now using the googleupdater.exe utility. The utility has developed into several versions which the user may see in his or her computer system as a Startup, a Service or a Scheduled Task. This utility checks if the computer system has the latest version of the Google software. Then it will download and installs the update automatically if it sees that the software is not the latest version.

How can I stop googleupdater.exe and should I?

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. googleupdater.exe. is used by Google Pack, If you shut down googleupdater.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop googleupdater.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Google Pack, from your system.
