The process googletoolbar2.dll is associated with Google Toolbar which is an integrated plugin to Internet Explorer. It is a Browser Helper Object which allows access to the browser’s contents and actions that doesn’t have any graphic interface. It starts every time the browser Internet Explorer is launched. The toolbar, located above the tab bars in the browser, provides the user a search box which can be used for web searches. Also, the toolbar provides the user an easy access to Gmail accounts, and allows saving bookmarks as well as web histories. Aside from these, the toolbar has some features such as translation, AutoFill, AutoLink, spell checker, pop-up blocker and word finder. The process runs as the Internet Explorer is launched in the machine. It requires the process googletoolbar2.dll to allow the Google Toolbar to deploy and render its processes active.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. googletoolbar2.dll. is used by Google Toolbar for IE, If you shut down googletoolbar2.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop googletoolbar2.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Google Toolbar for IE, from your system.
