The file ginstall.exe, known as Norman Generic Installer, belongs to software Norman Product Manager by Norman ASA. The Norman Product Manager, which is a component of the Norman Security Suite that relates to the installation of software updates for the Norman Security Suite. The Norman Product Manager pops up and advises the user when a restart is necessary to continue or complete the software update. The installation process for the security software takes place automatically in the background, and will continue until the installation of the update is completed. The update for the Norman Security Suite that is installed by the Product Manager offers different combinations of the products Virus and Spyware Protection, Personal Firewall and Parental Control, and includes a new user interface. The Virus and Spyware Protection upgrade is installed as a default setting and is not based on the user-defined configuration on the previously installed version. The Parental Control upgrade is completely different from its previous version, while the Personal Firewall upgrade leads the user through a wizard to configure basic rules for the firewall.
