The file gibusr.exe, known as Mecanisme de notificacion, belongs to software Mecanisme de notification by Winsudate. Kaspersky classifies this process as Adware.Win32.Gibmed.a or Adware.Gibmedia, which is developed by the company GibMedia Toulon. GibMedia is a company that offers paid services such as test scores, directory, and weather news, which can be accessed by installing their software that contains a Minitel service. Once the service is installed, the user is immediately billed for services that include the surcharge bill for the Internet connection service Minitel, even if the user has not personally installed the Gibmedia software. This lack in billing control and its connection to other free websites prompted many antivirus services to classify GibMedia as adware. Adware.GibMedia attempts to connect to remote websites, presumably to download advertising content, and alters the search provider used by the Internet Explorer Web browser. This annoying adware is classified harmless as long as it is not combined with spyware or trackware.
