The file getwordnt.dll, known as GetWordNT Dynamic Link Library, belongs to software TranslateIt, which is a flexible and highly customizable translator. TranslateIt is a fast online dictionary that includes several dictionaries by default, but at the same time allows the user to add more. The dictionaries included by default are English, Russian, German, and French, but the user can add other dictionaries according to his needs. The application can be used offline, unless the full text translation tool for larger chunks of text needs to be utilized. TranslateIt works with other translation software like Babylon, StarDict, XDXF, and apple dictionaries. To use the application, the user simply hovers the mouse over a chunk of text for translation. TranslateIt features a morphology dictionary that attempts to offer more accurate translations, and comes with a speech synthesizer that speaks translations and text. This application supports Firefox, Office, and Thunderbird.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. getwordnt.dll. is used by TranslateIt, If you shut down getwordnt.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
