The file gebyv.dll is a browser helper object (BHO) that runs automatically when the user starts the Internet browser. It is a process in the application Winfixer 2006 (unregistered version), which is known for sleazy tactics of promotion and installation. WinFixer is software developed by Winsoftware that belongs to a family of scareware and rogue security programs. It gives exaggerated reports of threats on the computer, and then prompts the user to purchase a registered version of the software in order to remove the reported threats. WinFixer infection usually occurs when a user visits a website that distributes the program. The user receives a popup message in a dialog box that claims the PC is infected with malware, and requests to run a free scan. When the user chooses any of the options or tries to close the dialog box, it will trigger a popup window and WinFixer will download and install itself, regardless of the user's wishes.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. gebyv.dll. is used by WinFixer, If you shut down gebyv.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop gebyv.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is WinFixer, from your system.
