The executable process file gear511.exe (version 2,64,33,3), is lodged alongside NetGear Wireless LAN devices that gives out additional configuration options for devices such as a wireless card and presents it’s signal strength. The process file is said to be identified as NetGear MFC Application which is part of the software NetGear Application that has been developed by the company NetGear which is part of NetGear Wireless PC Card software or NetGear Wireless Configuration Module. The process file is said to be found running in the Task Manager as the process gear511.exe that is located in Program Files\NETGEAR\WG511SCU\Utility\Gear511.exe folder in the subfolder of C:\Program Files (usually in C:\Program Files\NETGEAR\WG511SCU\Utility. On Windows 7/XP, the process file has a file size of 475,136 bytes (29% of all incidences), 1,122,412 bytes and 5 other variants. The process file is not a Windows system file and it has not visible window feature. During the Windows boot process, the process file is loaded with the Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. gear511.exe. is used by Netgear Wireless Conifguration Module, If you shut down gear511.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop gear511.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Netgear Wireless Conifguration Module, from your system.
