The file gdiehelp.dll, known as MacAfee Privacy Bar Library, belongs to software McAfee Privacy Service by Network Associates. This software protects the user's privacy and identity when actively using the Internet, particularly when doing online banking and other financial transactions. McAfee Privacy Service protects the user's identity by generating an encrypted database of personal information that includes government ID numbers, bank accounts, credit card numbers, names of family members, and telephone numbers. It provides protection against phishing scams by blocking the transmission of personally identifiable information to fraudulent websites, and allows the user to permanently erase sensitive information from the computer with the MacAfee Shredder's secure file erasing features. The user's privacy is maintained by blocking unwanted advertisements and intrusive online ads, popups and Web bugs that can download malicious code to the system. MacAfee Privacy Service features enhanced content filtering techniques to filter offensive online content, including websites and newsgroups.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. gdiehelp.dll. is used by MacAfee Privacy Service, If you shut down gdiehelp.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop gdiehelp.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is MacAfee Privacy Service, from your system.
