The file funk.exe relates to the process Xgtray, which is a worm that spreads by copying itself without infecting other files. This malware propagates and distributes by exploiting vulnerabilities in file formats and applications that require the intervention of the user. The infected file executes and propagates when the user opens files and views malicious Web pages. Xgtray also propagates through sending emails that include a copy of itself as an attachment. The means of transmission of Xgtray include infections from floppy disks, CD-ROM, FTP and IRC channels and peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing networks. This worm has been created in order to spread, and does not attempt to change the system that it passes through. However, payload-free worms such as Xgtray can cause major disruption by increasing network traffic and other unintended effects. Worms such as Xgtray always cause harm to the system, even if only by consuming bandwidth.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. funk.exe. is used by Xgtray, If you shut down funk.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop funk.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Xgtray, from your system.
