Called by the process name FrostWire, the frostwire.exe file is a type of an executable (EXE) module, and is a part of the software FrostWire, which is created by FrostWire Group. FrostWire is basically a type of a free, open source BitTorrent client, and associated with LimeWire, because its overall function and appearance are similar to LimeWire, yet with new, and advanced, or different features. This Internet software is downloaded from the web, or from CD installation, but either way, when it is installed, frostwire.exe is added, stores itself on a folder location, registers into a Windows registry, and automatically run in the background during startup of the Windows. Speaking which, frostwire.exe is able to run and work on most versions of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, which include later versions, such as Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows ME.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. frostwire.exe. is used by FrostWire, If you shut down frostwire.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop frostwire.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is FrostWire, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as FrostWire, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
