The freenet.exe file is the process called Freenet Systray Application that is used by the application Freenet originally created by Ian Clarke and developed by The Freenet Project. This is not a core file for Windows that means the operating system can run without requiring this process. This program has a visible window. This program runs when you start Windows. The registry key for this process is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. Freenet is a peer-to-peer cross-platform system of communication. It has a decentralized storage for distributed data with free software suite to work on these data. It stores small, encrypted snippets of data distributed on user computers, and connects through intermediate computers that pass on content requests and sends them back without knowledge of the full fill content. This supports anonymous publishing and retrieval of different kinds of information. Freenet is a free software. It works on Java.
