The file fnf5svc.exe, known as Lenovo Fn+F5 Service, belongs to software On-Screen Display by Lenovo. Lenovo is a Chinese-based multinational computer technology corporation that manufactures and markets a brand of desktop computers, laptops, notebooks, workstations, and tower rack servers. Lenovo manufactures a range of laptops and notebooks that employs the ThinkPad buttons that can be configured to launch applications. The On-Screen Display for ThinkPad computers that is launched by the executable file FnF5svc.exe is program that displays the results of using ThinkPad function keys on the screen, and provides some enhancements to the function keys. For the common ThinkPad model, some of the key combinations includes Fn+F2 that locks the computer, Fn+F3 selects the power plan or scheme, Fn+F4 puts he computer in a standby mode, while Fn+F5 will enable or disable the built-in wireless networking features and the Bluetooth features. The On-Screen Display program is installed during the installation of the ThinkPad Configuration Utility.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. fnf5svc.exe. is used by On-Screen Display, If you shut down fnf5svc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop fnf5svc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is On-Screen Display, from your system.
