The flatbed.exe file is a process belonging to Twain driver authored by Twain Working Group that is used by Visioneer Paperport3100b flatbed scanner. This driver allows users to scan documents and pictures, to create multiple prints and copies without synchronization and compatibility problems between the imaging program and the scanner, and to receive and send faxes. Scanners equipped with the Twain Driver are compatible with Twain-supported software. The flatbed.exe file though is compatible with Visioneer Paperport3100b flatbed scanner only. The flatbed.exe process enables the user to manage the scanning process and specify the scan settings such as the scan resolution, area to be scanned and adjustment of color balance and tone. It allows file transfer of the image to the image program memory after scanning. The scanned image becomes available in the image program for storing and editing purposes. You can run the flatbed.exe file manually. It is a non-system process.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. flatbed.exe. is used by Twain Driver, If you shut down flatbed.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop flatbed.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Twain Driver, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Twain Driver, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.

The first thing you should do if flatbed.exe. is causing errors on your computer is to run a Windows registry scan with Registry Reviver If you are still seeing errors after this you should uninstall the program that flatbed.exe, belongs to, in this case Twain Driver
