The f-stopw.exe file is process that launches the software F-Prot Anti-virus created by F-Risk Software. It is the main program that runs the scanning utility in the background. This process needs Internet connection to be effective in detecting malicious activities that may infect the system. The F-Prot Anti-Virus program uses Internet connection to update its database for information on the latest viruses. A maximum of 5 computers can share this program through LAN or local area network. This program provides security online for E-mails by filtering spam and also filters worm, viruses and other malware that clog inboxes and compromise data security. It can quarantine infected files or delete them. The f-stopw.exe process uses an icon on the system tray that allows the user to quickly access the program information, features and settings. This anti-virus program works on Windows 2000 and later version. The common path for this process is C:\ Program Files\ FSI\F-Prot\ F-StopW.EXE.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. f-stopw.exe. is used by F-Prot Anti-Virus, If you shut down f-stopw.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop f-stopw.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is F-Prot Anti-Virus, from your system.
