The exspindn.exe file is the process called WD Spindown Utility that is used by the application WD Spindown developed by Wester Digital Technologies. The location of this process file is in the C:\Program Files subfolder. The size of the file is 278,528 bytes. You can access the program on the Windows Control Panel. The exspindn.exe process loads when you boot Windows. The registry key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. This process can record inputs. The exspindn.exe file automatically executes the application Western Digital Spindown Utility upon booting the computer to spin down the disk drive when in idle mode in order to reduce wear and save power. The exspindn.exe file has no digital signature. This process automatically starts with the local machine for autorun registry entries and running processes.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. exspindn.exe. is used by WD Spindown, If you shut down exspindn.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop exspindn.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is WD Spindown, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.
