The file expiorer.exe, known as Microsoft Windows Shell, belongs to software Windows Explorer by Microsoft. Windows Explorer is a navigation tool and file and folder manager for Microsoft Windows that incorporates the fundamental tools that allow the user to open, view, copy, move, and manage files and folders. It provides the graphical user interface for accessing file systems and presents other user interface items on the monitor such as the taskbar and desktop. The Windows Explore process also houses the operating system's search functionality and File Type associations, and is responsible for displaying the desktop icons, Start Menu, Taskbar, and Control Panel, which are collectively known as the Windows Shell. Shell extensions that are COM objects plug extended functionality into Windows Explorer and are available in the form of shell extension handlers, toolbars, and name space extensions that allow certain folders to be presented as a special folder (shell folder) that is presented to the user as an abstract concept instead of an absolute folder path.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. expiorer.exe. is used by Windows Explorer CD-ROM Optimizer, If you shut down expiorer.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop expiorer.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Windows Explorer CD-ROM Optimizer, from your system.
