The file encodedivxext.dll, known as EncodeDixXExt Module, belongs to software Dr. DivX, which is an encoding tool that allows users to create DivX Media Format files for playback on DivX hardware and software players. This software is released under the LGPL license, and it aims to build a portable application that is capable of transcoding as many video formats as possible to DivX. It converts most input files like VOB, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, FLV, AVI, MP4, MOV, and AVISynth scripts to DivX. The generated DivX files are playable on certified DivX players. It converts multiple audio tracks like AC-3, MP3, and MP-3 Surround and uses different encoding settings for each track. Dr. DivX automatically configures encode settings for the quality level requested by the user, and if necessary, tweaks encode settings. Users can playback input audio tracks to confirm correct encode selection, and tags audio and subtitle tracks with descriptive information.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. encodedivxext.dll. is used by Dr. DivX, If you shut down encodedivxext.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
