Sony Media Gallery is an application that comes installed with Sony Vaio laptops, executed through the elbserver.exe file. The process that installs with it is known as ElbServer, and is mainly responsible for accessing Media Gallery. Media Gallery is an application that enables users to organize their media files, i.e. videos, music and photos. You can create playlists, and categorize your library of photos, music and videos for easier retrieval of your media files. The file is installed in the following default location, C:\Program Files\Sony\Media Gallery\elbserver.exe. Approximate size of the file is 83,344 bytes, with an average RAM utilization of 47 MB. Users reported issues with the file, where their AV software identified it as a virus. Users who do not have the Media Gallery installed generally discover the file as a form of malware, masked as the valid file; while users who do have the Media Gallery on their computers, find that their AV software detected the file as a false positive, or simply put, it was a false virus alert.
How can I stop elbserver.exe and should I?
Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. elbserver.exe. is used by ElbServer, If you shut down elbserver.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
