The file elan.exe, known as Elan Delete program, belongs to software ELAN by Alcatel Microelectronics. Elan Microelectronics is a Taiwan based manufacturer of touch screens and computer chips. The process Elan delete program relates to a file that is installed in a device manufactured by Alcatel Microelectronics that has a component supplied by Elan. Elan owns the patent for the Capacitive Touch Control Device Detection Method, which is the multi-chip circuit technology for capacitive touch panel detection. This technology is applicable for middle and large size touchscreens. The executable file elan.exe that is installed into the computer is authored by Alcatel to call on the functionality of the supported device from Elan. There are no associated threats or malware with this file and it is considered safe for the system. The file elan.exe should not be deleted in order to ensure the functionality of the device that it supports.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. elan.exe. is used by ELAN, If you shut down elan.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
