The file efserver.exe, known as eFilm DICOM Server, belongs to software eFilm Workstation by Merge eFilm. The eFilm Workstation is a DICOM viewer that is used in hospitals, imaging centers and clinics. It incorporates many features that are useful in day-to-day activities in the the workplace, which includes synchronized stacking, window/level presets, reference lines, MPR, integrated CD and DVD burning, cine function, and advanced capabilities like volume rendering. The MPR reconstructs a cross-sectional image in any plane from CT or MR data, and allow users to view real-time reconstruction in any orthogonal or oblique plane with exquisite image quality. The thumbnail viewer of the eFilm Workstation can be toggled on or off, or set to come up with every study through the Study Manager window. It also provides easy access to thumbnails of related and current studies, and simplifies the task of choosing images or choosing where these images are to be displayed.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. efserver.exe. is used by eFilm Workstation, If you shut down efserver.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop efserver.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is eFilm Workstation, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
