The file dpfusmgr.exe, known as DPFUMGR Module, belongs to software DigitalPersona Password Manager from DigitalPersona, which is a component of Microsoft's Fingerprint Reader products. Password Manager is password replacement software that allows users to log on to their PCs and Web sites with the touch of a finger, eliminating the annoyance of forgotten and complex passwords. Password Manager uses the DgiitalPersona IDentity Engine that makes fingerprint recognition fast and reliable. This software is designed to work with consumer fingerprint peripherals from DigitalPersona partners, like Microsoft Optical Desktop with Fingerprint Reader, Microsoft Fingerprint Reader, and Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer with Fingerprint Reader. DigitalPersona Password Manager software and Microsoft Fingerprint Reader combine to provide consumers with a convenient solution supported by biometrics technology that enable them to log into Web sites and access information from a PC with the touch of a finger.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. dpfusmgr.exe. is used by DigitalPerson Password Manager, If you shut down dpfusmgr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop dpfusmgr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is DigitalPerson Password Manager, from your system.
