What is  cxtpls.dll

The cxtpls.dll file has been reported by many users as a malicious application classified by their system security tools as a Trojan belonging to the Trojan.LowZones family of backdoor rootkits and worms known to infect unprotected Windows-based computers with outdated OS security certificates, unencrypted TCP/IP network ports and an unsecured Windows System Registry. Some of these users also claim that the cxtpls.dll malware is distributed as a malicious BHO (Browser Helper Object) and Web browser hijacker embedded with spyware functionalities. In both instances, these users reported that the cxtpls.dll malware is deployed into the system with executable component processes like the cxtpls_loader.exe file, and these EXE processes can create and inject keys and entries into the unsecured Windows System Registry of the unprotected computer, especially in systems with outdated OS security certificates, upon the initial placement and successful activation of these executable components in the unprotected Windows-based system. These registry strings are said to allow the cxtpls.dll malware and its executable components to automatically initialize during system startup and to operate as cloacked background processes during system runtime. Some of these users claim that the cxtpls.dll malware is capable of exploiting and using unencrypted TCP/IP network ports of the unprotected system, in order to download more malicious applications unto the infected computer, or to wait for instructions from remote servers that are also said to be managed by the authors of the cxtpls.dll malware. A few users reported that the cxtpls.dll malware is capable of latching itself unto the installed Web browsers of the infected system while the user is browsing the Internet. In both these cases, these users claim that the cxtpls.dll malware is capable of secretly gathering private user details and Internet surfing information from the infected Windows-based computer and its installed Web browsers, and these stolen details are then said to be transmitted by the cxtpls.dll malware to the remote servers of its authors for processing.
