The ctbr.dll file is a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) module that is referenced by supported Web browsers with the Crawler Toolbar plugin whenever users are surfing the Internet. This means the ctbr.dll module is a component file of the Crawler Toolbar software, which is a Windows program distributed as a BHO (Browser Helper Object) application or Web browser plugin with a set of features that can allow users to do simultaneous keyword/keyphrase searches in multiple Internet search engines like Google and Bing among others. The Crawler Toolbar is also embedded with compatibility support for widely used versions of Internet Explorer and the Mozilla Firefox Web browser, and is integrated with user privacy functionalities and data security protocols that can help protect the user's confidential Internet surfing information and other Web-related details. This also means the ctbr.dll module is specifically deployed into the system by the Crawler Toolbar software to assist in the integration of its embedded context menu items and control panel options into the UI (User Interface) and shell of these supported Web browsers, and in implementing its data security protocols and user privacy policies into the Windows-based system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ctbr.dll. is used by Crawler Toolbar, If you shut down ctbr.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ctbr.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Crawler Toolbar, from your system.
