The cprmtkey.exe file is a component process of the firmware resources and device driver software utilities that are pre-installed in certain Acer TravelMate laptops, Toshiba notebooks and Compaq mobile computers, particularly models that are equipped with Dritek/Compal multimedia keypads or multifunction keys. The cprmtkey.exe process is specifically deployed into the Windows-based systems of these laptops and mobile computers to assist in integrating the quick launch functionalities that correspond to each of the multifunction keys embedded in these Dritek/Compal multimedia keyboards or keypad devices. With the cprmtkey.exe process and its associated components, these multifunction keys or multimedia keypads can enable users to quickly and easily launch email or Internet applications and toggle the Bluetooth or wireless connectivity features of these Compaq laptops, Acer TravelMate notebook computers and Toshiba mobile computing devices.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cprmtkey.exe. is used by Dritek/Compal MultiMedia Keyboard or Dritek/Compal Easy Button Firmware/Driver Software, If you shut down cprmtkey.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cprmtkey.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Dritek/Compal MultiMedia Keyboard or Dritek/Compal Easy Button Firmware/Driver Software, from your system.
