What is  combobutton.exe

The combobutton.exe process is an executable file that appears as MaxtorCombo in the Processes tab of the Windows Task Manager whenever the associated external Maxtor hard drive is connected to the Windows-based system. The combobutton.exe file is specifically deployed into the system by the Maxtor OneTouch software, which is a Windows program that is bundled with the firmware utilities and device driver software components that are packaged with these external Maxtor hard drives, as the executable dispatcher file of the Maxtor OneTouch Detection application. The button found in the external Maxtor hard drive is monitored by the Maxtor OneTouch Detection application, in order for the Maxtor OneTouch software to load the Retrospect data recovery program unto the system whenever this button is pressed by the user. This means the combobutton.exe file is activated to run the Maxtor OneTouch Detection application as a background process during system runtime or whenever the external Maxtor hard drive is connected to the Windows-based computer, in order to assist the Maxtor OneTouch software in monitoring the activity of this button that launches the Retrospect data recovery software. The combobutton.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation of the Maxtor OneTouch Detection application, which is in turn integrated along with the Maxtor OneTouch software during the installation process for the firmware components and device driver utilities that are bundled with these external Maxtor hard drives.
