The cmsregow.exe process is an executable component file of the Creative Technology Suite software, which is comprised of applications, firmware components and driver software utilities that are bundled with certain Creative Technology audio devices and external portable multimedia players. The Creative MediaSource application is packaged into the Creative Technology Suite software, and the cmsregow.exe file is an EXE resource process used by the Creative MediaSource program for assisting in the integration of the audio multimedia playback and sound processing functionalities embedded in supported Creative Technology devices into the Windows-based system. The cmsregow.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation of the Creative MediaSource application, which is in turn integrated into the system during the installation process for the Creative Technology Suite software, and this program is implemented into the system upon unloading the firmware components and device driver software utilities distributed with these Creative Technology hardware components unto the Windows-based computer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cmsregow.exe. is used by Creative Technology Suite and Creative MediaSource, If you shut down cmsregow.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cmsregow.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Creative Technology Suite and Creative MediaSource, from your system.
