The cmserver.exe process is an executable component file of the Choice Mail software, which is a Windows program classified as a system security and email management tool that was developed by DigiPortal. The Choice Mail program is embedded with a set of features for detecting spam (unsolicited emails) and junk messages from unknown or suspicious senders, blocking these emails from reaching the user's inbox and for flagging these items as spam or junk mails by placing these messages in a separate folder. The cmserver.exe process is specifically deployed into the system by the Choice Mail software to serve as the executable program dispatcher file of the Choice Mail Server application, which is a small program built into the Choice Mail software, and this application assists in the integration of Choice Mail server support communication protocols into the Windows-based system, in order for the Choice Mail software to correctly perform its embedded anti-spam and junk mail blocking operations. The cmserver.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation of the Choice Mail software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cmserver.exe. is used by Choice Mail and Choice Mail Server Application, If you shut down cmserver.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cmserver.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Choice Mail and Choice Mail Server Application, from your system.
