The cmscem.dll file has been reported by many users as a malicious program flagged by their system security tools as a component of the Adware.Gen application, which is a family of obtrusive adware items known to infect unprotected Windows-based computers. Other users claim that the anti-malware applications installed in their systems classify the cmscem.dll file as a variant of the Mal/Generic-A program, which is a family of Trojans reported to infect Windows-based systems with unencrypted TCP/IP network ports and outdated Web browsers. As an adware component, these users state that the cmscem.dll file is capable of automatically initializing during system startup and displaying pop-up ads while the user is browsing the Internet by creating and injecting keys and entries into the Windows System Registry upon its successful placement and activation, and by hijacking the default Web browser of the computer during system runtime and when the Web browser is actively running in the system. As a Trojan, these users reported that the cmscem.dll file is embedded with functions for exploiting unencrypted TCP/IP network ports and outdated Web browsers of the system, in order to initiate contact with predesignated Web browsers. Upon establishing communications and data transmission lines with these remote servers, which are said to be managed by the authors of this malicious application, the cmscem.dll file is said to download more malicious applications unto the system from these remote servers.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cmscem.dll. is used by Adware.Gen and Mal/Generic-A Trojan, If you shut down cmscem.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cmscem.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Adware.Gen and Mal/Generic-A Trojan, from your system.
