The computer process called CMG Shield for Windows Service is from the software CMG Windows Shield. This software provides applications for data protection where a password may be created and written for full folders or specific files, so that only authorized persons have access to sensitive data. For enterprise-wide data protection, end-users are provided with a decryption key so that only the authorized end-user can access sensitive files stored over a corporate network. The cmgshieldsvc.exe executable file is also associated with Mobile Guardian Shield. Both types of software are from Credant Technologies, and are used for data protection across various platforms, i.e. laptops, desktops, and mobile devices such as external smartphones. The software is likewise utilized for data protection for external media storage devices. The process file has a general location of C:\Windows\System 32\cmgshieldsvc.exe. Version 6.5.0.1183 has a size of 263,511 bytes while file version 6.7.0.1905 comes in a size of 268,425 bytes.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cmgshieldsvc.exe. is used by CMG Shield for Windows Service, If you shut down cmgshieldsvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cmgshieldsvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is CMG Shield for Windows Service, from your system.
