These users state that the cleanhlc.exe process is embedded with self-activating functionalities that this malicious program is said to implement upon its successful placement in the system, in order to create and inject keys and entries into the Windows System Registry. These registry entries and keys, according to these users, are then used to allow the cleanhlc.exe process to again implement its self-activation code during system startup, in order for the cleanhlc.exe file to operate as a hidden background process and download more malicious programs unto the infected system from predesignated remote servers that are managed by the authors of the cleanhlc.exe process. These users claim that the cleanhlc.exe process is able to perform these operations because this malicious program can exploit and use unprotected TCP/IP network ports of the infected Windows-based system for initiating contact with these remote servers.
