The chckshll.dll file is a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) module implemented into the system by the Disk Checker software, which is a Windows program classified as a disk diagnostics tool developed by RS Software Lab with a set of features for checking possible hard disk issues and errors, and for repairing these disk problems upon completing diagnostic procedures. The Disk Checker software is also embedded with a function that allows users to create backup copies of the data stored in their hard disks. The chckshll.dll module is specifically deployed as the Disk Checker Shell Extension DLL, which is referenced by the Disk Checker software whenever this program needs to implement its basic and extended embedded shell elements into its UI (User Interface). The chckshll.dll file is placed in the system upon the installation of the Disk Checker program.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. chckshll.dll. is used by RS Software Lab Disk Checker and Disk Checker Shell Extension DLL, If you shut down chckshll.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
