The cfshlext.dll file is a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) module implemented into the system by the Avira AntiVir software, which is a Windows program classified as a system security tool with a set of features for monitoring and detecting possible viruses, Trojans, worms, spyware applications and other malicious programs, in order to protect the Windows-based computer against potential hacker attacks, data loss or corruption, system stability issues, user privacy risks and data security threats. The cfshlext.dll file serves as the resource library for the context menu items integrated into the shell of the Avira AntiVir software's GUI (Graphical User Interface) and Windows System Tray icons. The cfshlext.dll file is also used by the Avira AntiVir software to implement context menu items into the Windows Explorer shell and add its own menu options to the existing context menu items of Windows Explorer. The cfshlext.dll file is placed in the system upon the installation of any Avira AntiVir edition.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cfshlext.dll. is used by Avira AntiVir, If you shut down cfshlext.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cfshlext.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Avira AntiVir, from your system.
