What is  ceres.dll

The ceres.dll file is implemented into the system along with the buddy.exe process by variants of the Transponder software, which is a known family of obtrusive adware components as stated by some users. A few users even classify the ceres.dll file and the buddy.exe process as spyware items, because these users claim that the ceres.dll file, upon its activation by the buddy.exe process, is capable of secretly harvesting Internet surfing information from the default Web browser of the infected Windows-based system, in order to covertly initiate contact with the remote servers of its authors, which in turn displays related pop-up advertisements in new Web browser windows. The same users reported that the ceres.dll file and the buddy.exe process can display product ads, service offers or discount deals that are relevant to their Google searches and to the content of the websites they are currently browsing. The ceres.dll file and the buddy.exe process are said to be placed and activated in the Windows-based system via ActiveX controls of certain websites visited by the user.
