The file cdant.sys, known as C-Dilla Windows NT RTS, belongs to software License Management System by Macrovision. C-Dilla License Management System is part of the copy-protection software Macrovision Safe Cast, which is a rule-based system that allows its licensees the freedom to provide their software through downloads either as a finished product, a full-featured time-constrained download, or as a limited demo version. The Safe Cast License Management System allows authorized users to run the software, but blocks unauthorized use or copying. Safe Cast overrides operating system security and safeguards, and writes directly to the boot track of the local disk as part of its operation. It nests itself into the user's computer deeply and removing all of its components may be very difficult. The procedure of removing Safe Cast includes the deletion of several files, the removal of information from the Windows registry, as well as manipulating data directly on the hard drive.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cdant.sys. is used by Macrovision Safe Cast, If you shut down cdant.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
