The file brs.exe is part of the Cyberlink Power DVD software. The file comes installed with the driver for the device. What the file does is to provide an application that will allow users to set the region of their Blu-Ray discs. This in turn will enable the device to read and play the disc. This is an essential file for the Power DVD player but may be stopped from loading with PC boot-ups. You may enable it only when you will be playing a disc that needs a region setting, for the player to recognize it. This file comes with a digital certificate, and is a verified valid file by Cyberlink. It comes in different file sizes, one of which is 73.29 KB. The file has a startup run name of “BDRegion.” Command path is C:\Program Files\Cyberlink\Shared Files\brs.exe. Run as a Windows service, its parent process is explorer.exe. It has an average RAM usage of 1024 KB.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. brs.exe. is used by Cyberlink BRS, If you shut down brs.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop brs.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Cyberlink BRS, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Cyberlink BRS, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
