Br_funcs.exe is the process file for the Backup Process Run function of Lenovo ThinkVantage computers, a component of the rescue and recovery system that is among the task manager list when the backup runs. The Br_funcs.exe process starts up automatically upon Windows start up, since it is part of the backup utility which runs to take disk images within 15 minutes to a few hours every three weeks by default. The duration of the backup process normally takes up around 80% CPU usage, thus it may slow down the system when running. By default, Lenovo computers with ThinkVantage Tools are designed to run the backup process automatically. Some Lenovo computers that use ThinkVantage Tools run this backup three times per week. When the backup is running, the process consumes all CPU cycles, making other task impossible to run at the same time. Depending on the data amount, the back up processing may take between 10-30 minutes.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. br_funcs.exe. is used by ThinkVantage Tools Enhanced Backup and Restore, If you shut down br_funcs.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop br_funcs.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is ThinkVantage Tools Enhanced Backup and Restore, from your system.
