What is  blackd.exe

An application known as blackd is part of the Internet Security Systems BlackICE Firewall software. The process serves as your desktop firewall that watches out for system intrusions. You can find the file installed in the following directory: C:\Program Files\ISS\BlackICE\blackd.exe. This is an executable file that must be kept running in the background in order to fully take advantage of its firewall protection functions. It is recommended that the file be allowed to launch simultaneous with Windows startup. There are instances reported by users, where the system shows an error message that reads: “blackd.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.” The usual file issue that prompts the system to display this particular error message is the file being incompatible with the current Operating System that is trying to launch it. Incompatibility issues typically happen when the file version is not suited for the OS version. An update of the blackd.exe file, or a change of the file version, usually solves the issue.
