BitDefender Professional Plus is an integration of security services including anti-spam, firewall and anti-virus modules to provide comprehensive protection solutions for both corporate and home Internet users. The anti-virus module aims to remove and detect viruses by using scan engines certified by Checkmark, Virus Bulletin, ICSA Labs, CheckVir and TUV. The program provides a layer of security to keep the system safeguarded from unidentified viruses through detection of malicious codes without signature releases.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. bdnews.exe. is used by BitDefender Professional Plus, If you shut down bdnews.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
