Most reports by anti-virus programs have classified the awtqp.dll file as malware. Kaspersky identifies this DLL file as not-a-virus:Adware.Win32.Virtumonde.wa. The path for this file is the folder C:\Windows\System32. Known sizes for this file include 577,588 bytes, 280,676 bytes with 8% occurrence and 33 other variants. This dynamically loaded or linked file is a BHO or browser helper object. It automatically loads every time the Internet browser starts up. BHOs are often used by adware or spyware because personal firewalls usually do not block them as they are identified as the browser itself. IDs associated with this BHO include FDA4DFFB-2C3D-4730-8D7E-28523C7F2F67, 6D33B121-5C4C-4450-9D1F-7B67085CC199 and 61 other variants. It is not visible to the user. It can monitor activities on the Internet browser. It can serve advertisements even when the use is not surfing the Internet as an adware and toolbar and browser extension. The awtqp.dll process can serve different types of advertisement including popup ads.
