The avwebgrd.exe file is a Windows process called as AntiVir WebGuard Service or Avira WebGuard Service, which is a part of the program Avira Free Antivirus, also in Avira Premium Security Suite and Avira AntiVir Premium, which is developed by Avira GmbH, otherwise known as Avira Operations GmbH & Co. KG. AntiVir WebGuard Service, or avwebgrd.exe, is a background service that has an important function within the Antivirus Security Suite by Avira, and that is to safeguard the user and his or her computer against threats whenever he or she browses the Internet. It is able to detect viruses, spyware, malware and Trojan horses, as well as prevent dangerous or malicious threats from the web, such as phishing, hacking, identity theft, spam, and fraud. Once the antivirus program is installed on the computer, the avwebgrd.exe file also downloads and stores itself in the system, and begins to automatically run in the background.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. avwebgrd.exe. is used by Avira Free Antivirus, If you shut down avwebgrd.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop avwebgrd.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Avira Free Antivirus, from your system.
