What is avsynmgr.exe
The file avsynmgr.exe, otherwise known as VirusScan Synchronization Service, is a part of the software product series McAfee VirusScan, i.e. McAfee VirusScan Professional, McAfee VirusScan version 5.x. Runs VirusScan System Tray, WebScanX, VirusScan System Scan, and VirusScan Console, and is developed by the company Network Associates, or formerly called as Networks Associates Technologies. When the program is downloaded onto the computer, the avsynmgr.exe file is added into the system, and launches itself to provide synchronization of external devices that are plugged in, or other applications installed onto the computer, after they are scanned and detected to be free from viruses, worms or spyware. The avsynmgr.exe process may not be as essential as other modules of the antivirus program, but still strongly recommended to keep it active in the computer system background. Also, avsynmgr.exe is a module that possibly executes other files that call for it.
How can I stop avsynmgr.exe and should I?
Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. avsynmgr.exe. is used by McAfee VirusScan or McAfee VirusScan Professional, If you shut down avsynmgr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop avsynmgr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is McAfee VirusScan or McAfee VirusScan Professional, from your system.
