AVG Resident Shield Service, executed from the file avgrsa.exe, is the main component of AVG’s Antivirus suite. This process is the backbone of AVG Antivirus, providing instant protection for computers against the most common security threats: viruses, Trojans, process and browser hijackers, malware and spyware. This is a Windows service that runs in the background, and should be allowed to start once the OS is launched at startup. The file checks every file and document being sent and received, every browser activity, every website that the user visits, every email and its attachments, and every online game being accessed. In other words, the Resident Shield Service is the one responsible for immediate tracking of malicious files before they are accessed by the user. No matter what AVG Antivirus software you have installed on your PC, you are sure to get the avgrsa.exe file. The process is normally installed in its common path: C:\Program Files\AVG\avgrsa.exe. It uses about 82.71 of private memory, and has a file size of 1.11 MB.
