The averhidreceiver.exe file refers to the process called HIDRec Application that belongs to HIDRec Application or the DirectX10 LV software. The process file can be found in the subfolder C:\Program Files\Common Files. Known sizes for the file include 163,840 bytes, 159,744 bytes and 155,648 bytes with 55% occurrence on Windows XP or Windows 7 system. This is not a visible program. The averhidreceiver.exe file is not a system file for Windows. The program loads when you boot Windows. The registry key for this entry is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. The executable file can record inputs. There are two versions of the file. The most recent one is 1.0.0.6. The file executes as a standard process on Windows with the account privileges of the logged in user. The program adds a shortcut pointer on Start menu when installed. The average size of the file is 154KB. It is not CPU intensive. It will only use about 0.0003% of the CPU resources.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. averhidreceiver.exe. is used by HIDRec Application, If you shut down averhidreceiver.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop averhidreceiver.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HIDRec Application, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as HIDRec Application, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
