The autoupdatesrv.exe file is a process file with the description web'n'walk Manager Auto Update. It is associated with the software Birdstep EasyConnect developed by Birdstep Technology. The process file can be found in the subfolder C:\Program Files. There are several known file sizes for autoupdatesrv.exe including 667,648 bytes and 499,712 bytes that has 45% occurrence on Windows XP or Windows 7 operating system. It is not a system file on Windows. There is no visible window for the program. The program runs when Windows boots up. The registry key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. The autoupdatesrv.exe file can record inputs. Birdstep’s EasyConnect is a Connection Manager or CM client for laptops that enables users to connect to get the best network connection through its automated connectivity solution and network profiling. The file has no digital signature. Automatic startup locations include running processes, start menu of current user startup, local machine for autorun registry entries and Start Menu\Programs\Startup.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. autoupdatesrv.exe. is used by Birdstep EasyConnect, If you shut down autoupdatesrv.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop autoupdatesrv.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Birdstep EasyConnect, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Birdstep EasyConnect, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
