The atomtime.exe file is a valid process file. It is up to the user to run it during startup or not. The command for this process is C:\Program Files\AtomTime Pro\AtomTime.EXE. This process file is used to run AtomTime, an application for Windows that connects to Atomic Clock time server located in Boulder, Colorado, USA through the Internet to get the current value of atomic time clock. The latest version is AtomTime Pro. There are several options of automating the update process. It supports most proxy servers. The location of the process file is C:\Program Files\AtomTime Pro\AtomTime.EXE. The process is automatically started from RunOnce, RunServicesOnce, Run or RunServices entry of the registry. The new features of the AtomTime Pro include user-defined time servers, message logging, dial-up networking, time adjust on connections, system tray date display, registry settings, automated operations, launching with Windows Start, automated operatons, animated icon, more time formats supported, support for port 37, display colors can be changed from black/white to colored and vice versa, version checking and improved handling of messages and errors.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. atomtime.exe. is used by AtomTime Pro, If you shut down atomtime.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop atomtime.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is AtomTime Pro, from your system.
