What is  ati2evxx.exe

ATI display drivers install with it a process known as ATI External Event Utility for Windows, which executes through the file ati2evxx.exe. Basically, what this file does is to enable hotkey functions on your keyboard, specifically to change the settings of your video cards. The file appears to be utilized as well for issues with graphic cards. However, the file has been found to consume a good amount of CPU resources, utilizing up to 85% of CPU memory. When users encounter CPU hogging because of this file, the option most commonly taken was to disable the file. They found their graphic cards still working smoothly even with the file no longer enabled. Also, users who disabled the file had no need to use the hotkeys to configure their video and graphic cards. This is a startup entry. Startup run identifier is typically Ati HotKey Poller. In some versions of the driver and the file, the run identifier is ATIPOLAB.
