The process known as arhidfltr.sys is a system driver file that is part of the Microsoft AR HID Filter Driver Beta (Version 2 Releast 2) by Microsoft AR HID (Human Interface Device Filter Driver). The Microsoft AR (Augmented Reality) HID Filter Driver is where most Windows programs are based, supporting uniform access to input devices. Users add filter drivers to the Windows layered driver architecture to extend functionality of the connected devices. Earlier Windows versions supported USB as the primary HID transport, but for Windows 8, transports are now implemented with support for USB, Bluetooth, Bluetooth LE and I2C devices. The Microsoft AR HID Filter Driver Beta is a windows driver for the computer-generated live, physical and real-world environment sensory inputs for sounds, video, graphics or GPS data that is called Augmented Reality. It is more related to the drivers that connect devices for software with a mediated reality concept, in which users’ view of reality is modified by a computer. In this case Microsoft AR HID Filter Driver Beta works for augmented devices such as touch screens, digital whiteboards, tracking devices and other hardware.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. arhidfltr.sys. is used by Microsoft AR Human Interface Device Filter Driver, If you shut down arhidfltr.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop arhidfltr.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft AR Human Interface Device Filter Driver, from your system.
