The appsrv.exe file is referred to as WiMAX SDK service, or WiMAX SDK service for Intel PROSet/Wireless WiMAX, and a component of the program Intel PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Service, which is produced by Intel Corporation. This particular file is important and recommended to run in the background, because its main task is to allow a user set up, edit, control, and manage the network profiles to be able to get connected to a certain network. In addition, it has advanced settings, which include power management, channel selection (for ad-hoc networks set up), and WiFi Connection Utility that is used to view the status and details of the connection, as well as to detect available wireless of Wi-Fi connectivity. This file is considered essential whenever a user needs to connect to the Internet through wireless connectivity. It is compatible with certain later versions of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, which include Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows NT.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. appsrv.exe. is used by Intel PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Service, If you shut down appsrv.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
