AOL TopSpeed Monitor is the service name of the file aoltsmon.exe, and a component of the software AOL TopSpeed Monitor, also AOL Uninstaller, which is developed by America Online, Inc. or AOL. AOL TopSpeed Monitor, or aoltsmon.exe, is a process that is able to detect and monitor the quality of the Internet connection via AOL, but it is not just a module related to the connectivity, but also features a web acceleration technology, which is designed to primarily make web browsing easier and faster. This file works when AOL through dial-up is being accessed, but not vital to the proper functioning of the main Internet connection, and can be stopped or removed. However, this file is digitally signed by the same company, America Online, Inc. or AOL (VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer), so it must not be terminated, unless it begins to cause problems and errors that make the software not work.
